This often results in seeking validation from external sources, leading to overcompensation and ultimately self-abandonment. I share my own journey with this and how learning to validate myself, even during the lowest lows, has increased my emotional maturity and overall health and happiness. 

Nobody is coming to save you. Making your needs your number one priority is not selfish, it's smart. And it's what healthy, emotionally mature adults do.
